True Size of the Eclipse Super Star Destroyer Revealed

Breaking Down the Dimensions of the Imperial Dreadnought

By

The Eclipse-class Super Star Destroyer was a formidable weapon in the hands of the Reborn Emperor Palpatine. Its immense size and firepower made it a symbol of the Galactic Empire's might.

However, the true dimensions of the Eclipse have been a subject of debate among Star Wars fans. The Dark Empire Sourcebook states that the Eclipse was 175 kilometers in length, making it larger than both the Executor-class Star Dreadnought and the Vengeance-class dreadnought.

However, a closer examination of the ship's design suggests that the 175-kilometer figure may be an exaggeration. The large hangars on the Eclipse were capable of holding a Victory-class Star Destroyer, which is 900 meters in length. This means that the Eclipse's hangars would have been at least 1,800 meters wide.

In practice, the Eclipse's hangars were occupied by 600 TIE Interceptors, which are only 10 meters long. This suggests that the hangars were actually much smaller than 1,800 meters wide.

Another clue to the Eclipse's true size comes from the fact that it was technically dwarfed in length by both the Executor-class and Vengeance-class dreadnoughts. The Executor was 19,000 meters long, while the Vengeance was 1,400 meters long. The Eclipse would have had to be significantly smaller than both of these ships to be considered dwarfed.

Based on these observations, it is likely that the Eclipse was actually much smaller than the 175-kilometer figure given in the Dark Empire Sourcebook. A more realistic estimate would be somewhere in the range of 10,000 to 15,000 meters, making it comparable in size to the Executor and Vengeance.
